Notice of Special Education Records Destruction

In compliance with the Individual with Disabilities Act (IDEA), The Georgia Records Act, and Coffee County School System local procedure regarding the destruction of data collected, maintained, or used in provision of a free and appropriate public education of students with disabilities in the Coffee County Schools, the Records Department announces its intention to destroy Special Education records November 30, 2022.

Records on students who were enrolled in a special education program in the Coffee County School System who were born between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1997 are no longer needed for educational purposes.

The student or parent may need these records for Social Security or other reasons. If you, as a former special education student or parent of a former special education student, wish to obtain these records prior to destruction, you should contact the Special Education Records Department, Coffee County Special Services, 901 Connector 206 North, Douglas, Georgia. Positive identification will be required before the records can be released to the individual.
