CHS Announces New Head Coaches for 2022-2023

The Coffee High Athletic Department has announced four new head coaches for the 2022-2023 school year.

New CHS Head CoachesBrandon Bush is the new head coach for Coffee High girls soccer. Coach Bush is a 23-year veteran of the Coffee County School System and presently serves as Academic Coach at Satilla Elementary School. He earned his Bachelors' Degree from Valdosta State University and will soon complete his Master's Degree in education. He coached soccer at Coffee High from 2001-2011 and also coached soccer at South Georgia College for four years. Coach Bush was named Teacher of the Year at Satilla Elementary for the 2013-2014 school year. He and his wife Marisa have been married for 23 years and have three children, who attend CHS, CMS, and Georgia Tech. They attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he has served as Scoutmaster for the local Boy Scout troop. Coach Bush is looking forward to returning to coaching with Coffee High girls soccer and the Coffee Middle School cross country program.

Cody Reid is the new head coach for Coffee High cross country. Coach Reid earned a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education from Valdosta State University. He has taught one year of middle school science inclusion and has coached one year of middle school cross country. He has also served as assistant high school track and field coach for one year. Coach Reid is excited to join Coffee Athletics as the new head coach for Coffee High cross country.

Vic Sims is the new head coach for Coffee High boys tennis. Coach Sims graduated from St. Andrew's-Sewanee School in Sewanee Tennessee. He earned an Associate's Degree in General Studies from South Georgia College, a Bachelor's Degree in History from Valdosta State University, and a Master's Degree in Teaching from Georgia College and State University. Coach Sims has taught 8th grade Georgia History at Coffee Middle School since joining the school district in 2016. He has served as varsity assistant swimming coach for Coffee High from 2016-2022, coaching Region Champion teams each of those years. He also served as varsity assistant tennis coach at Coffee High from 2020-2022, with each of those teams also winning Region Championships. Coach Sims coached the boys tennis teams which advanced to the State Final Four in 2021 and Elite Eight in 2022, and the girls tennis teams which advanced to the State Elite Eight in 2021 and Final Four in 2022. Coach Sims also served as wide receivers coach with Coffee Middle School Football from 2016-2019. Coach Sims is looking forward to taking over the reins of the boys tennis team at Coffee High this year.

Sophia Winters is the new head coach for Coffee High girls tennis. Coach Winters holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She has taught 7th grade social studies at Coffee Middle School for the past year, and will teach Kindergarten at Indian Creek Elementary School next year. Coach Winters played NCAA Division 2 Tennis at Georgia Southwestern State University and is the #2 All-Time Doubles player and the #5 All-Time Singles player at GSW. She has served as a Youth and Junior Tennis instructor, and most recently coached the Coffee Middle School girls tennis team to a Conference Championship in 2022. Coach Winters is looking forward to making her high school coaching debut with Coffee High girls tennis this year.
